From the TUC

Unemployment figures tomorrow

11 Nov 2008, by Guest in Economic Reports, Economics

The latest unemployment figures will be published at 9.30am tomorrow (Wednesday).  Unfortunately they will almost certainly make for grim reading.  Richard and Nicola will aim to produce an immediate take on the figures by midday.  This will be posted on the blog under one or other of their names.

Following that, the first of the TUC’s monthly Recession Reports will be published by Monday at the latest with a quick summary and link from this blog again under Richard or Nicola’s name.  The Recession Report will provide an outline of where the economy stands based on the latest stats. It will also include a short analysis of the recession from a different angle each month.  This month Nicola has written a report on vulnerable workers.  Future topics include pensions, the environment, skills and training, and welfare policy, amongst others. Each will be written by a different specialist at the TUC.

I hope the work proves informative and, more importantly, helps develop policy to limit some of the worst effects of what will be a tough year.
