Cuts Watch #42: Full central government education cuts revealed

Michael Gove’s letter to Ed Balls, which sets out a full breakdown of £359 million  central Government cuts at the Department for Education, can be viewed here. The list includes:

  • £8 million cut in grants made via the Youth Sector Development Fund (which supports third sector organisations providing services to disadvataged  young people)
  • £47 million cut from one-to-one tuition for children
  • £25 million cut from capital spending allocated to extended schools

Details on £311 million reduction in the area based grant to local authorities (which funds services including Connexions and extended schools) are not available.
