At last night’s City Council Meeting in Liverpool, the Cabinet member for Employment and Skills was asked to confirm how many construction jobs could be lost if Wave 6 of the the area’s Building School’s for the Future programme were to be completely cut. The response was that 1000 full time construction jobs, and 200 apprenticeship places, could be expected to go. The response also notes that additional full time job losses could be expected in professions and sectors that support the school building programme, and in supply chains associated with the construction industry.

It’s tragic the state of the employment sector in Liverpool at the moment. Luckily the new media sector is gathering pace as digital companies look to expand into Liverpool. There’s a lot of talent out there.
