The National Forest is losing £160,000 from its budget as a result of spending cuts. The non-departmental public body, promotes the planting of woodland across 200 square miles of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire, offers support to rural businesses and encourages recreation and tourism in the Forest. It has been told by Defra that it is likely to experience further spending cuts in future years.
