Local Government Chronicle reports (subscription required) that Nottinghamshire County Council is looking to cut up for a quarter of its workforce over the next three years.

The council has estimated that 3,000 posts are at risk in a drive to save £150 million. UNISON have urged Nottinghamshire to rethink, emphasising the effect on frontline services and the knock-on effects on the economy in the county, which has already been hit hard by the recession.
