We’ve been reviewing the cuts of the last few months, and have found a few that we should have featured that have not appeared on Cuts Watch. These include a 15 per cent budget cut at the Equalities and Human Rights Commission. The cuts mean that the organisation is reviewing its staffing, marketing and programme of grants that aim to combat discrimination.
Additional cuts that we have missed are:
- An £1.3 million cut to Capacity Builders, the government agency responsible for providing advice and support (including a programme of grants) to the voluntary sector.
- A cut in funding available for developing a long-distance walking trail around the English coast
- A reduction in the benefit that is available to help unemployed people pay mortgage interest on their homes – which the Council for Mortgage Lenders claim will see 64,000 people at risk of mortgage arrears.
