Cuts Watch #336: Health and Safety Offices

25 Dec 2010, by in Cuts Watch

Staff at the Health and Safety Executive offices in Preston and Manchester have been told that their offices are to be closed and the work moved to the HSE office in Bootle, Merseyside. PCS has pointed out that the HSE’s own survey showed that one worker in five will not be able to make the move and criticised the organisation for failing to instead operate the offices on a reduced basis.

It would maintain quality health and safety provision while still offering savings to HSE, and it is disappointing that HSE rejected this possibility.

commented PCS negotiations officer Jayson Sloss.
