  • Nicholas Timmins, in today's FT reports that the government's contract terms for the Work Programme are going to be even tougher than was expected. He quotes an anonymous provider describing a draft as "marginally bankable at best" and raises a query about how many of the 35 shortlisted providers will actually submit bids. At this stage, we can expect a certain amount of bluffing and counter-bluffing and it may be that the new government is a lot better than its predecessor at getting the best terms out of providers. On the other hand, failing to get enough organisations bidding would be terribly embarrassing …
