  • RMT reveals London Underground plans to leave 30.5% of stations unstaffed during operational hours – directly contradicting a speech  by Mayor Boris Johnson at last year’s Conservative conference, where he said that staffing cuts would leave “no station unstaffed at any time.”
  • The National Union of Students fears that the Government may renege on its promise to pay the first year’s fees for students who qualify for free school meals. Rules for the £150 million  National Scholarship Programme may instead allow universities to set their own rules about who it will be spent on. Several Lib Dem MPs may have voted for the government’s plans because of this promise, but apparently it would be too expensive. (Hands up anyone who’s surprised.)
