I have an article in the Huffington Post, looking at yesterday’s Budget. Nick Clegg has argued that the increase in personal allowances makes this a “Robin Hood” Budget, but most of the benefit goes to people on above average incomes. The £3.3 billion this will cost could have been spent on much more progressive reforms – like reversing the massive cut in tax credits for low-waged families that’s coming in next month.
