Mapping unemployment changes 2008-2011

There have been severe changes in unemployment patterns around the country since the onset of the economic crisis, with many of the largest changes coming in Labour rather than Conservative constituencies. This map shows which parliamentary constituencies have seen the greatest increases in unemployment from 2008 to February 2011 – hover the map to see the constituency names. Our research also found there are almost ten dole claimants for every job vacancy in Labour held constituencies, more than double the rate in Conservative seats.
